Cultivar epithet:  'Darrell'

Species/hybrid:  Heliconia hirsuta

Description:  Erect inflorescence; 8 to 9 distichous bracts, pale orange with dark red at base and tip; rachis dark red to maroon proximally and dark red distally, lower bracts dark green proximally; sepals light yellow to yellow with distal green band and white or yellow tip; ovary yellow on tip, green on distal half, and yellow below; pedicel pale green. Vegetation zingiberoid. Height 0.9 to 1.5 m (3 to 5 feet).
