Cultivar epithet:  'Fire Bird'

Species/hybrid:  Heliconia stricta

Description:  Erect inflorescence; 6 to 7 distichous bracts, red with green on keel and lip with narrow maroon stripe between green and red; rachis dark red or maroon between lower bracts and red
between upper bracts; sepals green distally with small white tip, white proximally; ovary and pedicel white. Vegetation musoid; maroon on upper midrib and along sides of lower midrib. Height 0.9 to 1.5 m (3 to 5 feet).
